Although more than satisfied with the results I got from the ATH-AD , I was curious to see how the headphone performs in one more game where most gamers would usually not spend much attention on sound… The World of Warcraft. It is only recently when that I started noticing that there are directional sounds in the game as I wait for my turn with the new Raid Finder option especially while casually flying in Stormwind with my 5. With the ATH-AD , this is replicated very well and I can even make out that a player to my rear right has summoned his mount or the mage to my front left has just disenchanted an item.

Other subtle things that I never noticed till now are that the Stormwind theme music is actually quite nice and I can start to pick out different spell sounds rather than a whole mess especially when burning down a boss. Sure all these are non essential but you have to admit, it does make the game a little bit more engaging when its one of those bosses where you just press buttons in the usual rotation. One thing I always like when using headphones when compared to my 5.

While of course no headphones is gonna beat a true 5. But the ATH-AD is not without its flaws as if you are someone who is smaller built and have a smaller head, you might find yourself having to adjust the headphones once in a while during longer gaming hours.

Another slight annoyance is for those looking to get a gaming session before they head out as the holding mechanism can ruin some hairstyles especially if you dun put enough gel or wax. To further explain, the bass is clear and good so you can pick up directional sound details which competitive gamers will appreciate as they main objective is to get the kill.

Not that the bass in the ATH-AD is bad at all as you can still tweak it in the Equalizer settings, but rather for the bass purist, you might want to try out the headphones first before deciding. Which headphones is better for gaming overall? Dec 17, 0 18, If you like audiotechnica, get the ADx instead of the ADx, it has much more even mid and sub bass and more even treble.

The ADx, not so much. The ADx is directed more towards the gaming market, its also not very portable and pretty bulky, but it has good sound. If your looking for a all around headphone, the ATH-M50s are the best choice, and if your looking for a more gaming directed headphone ADx is best choice.

Hope this helps! StevenDB99 :. Thanks, you guys really helped out! I do want to mention it is important for me to have the best possible sound stage for fps gaming CS: GO. Any help would be appreciated total sound noob. Quote: namelesspfg said:. For PC gaming, a sound card provides more features and more quality at less cost. Those headphones are so sensitive that you don't need to worry about having a dedicated headphone amp.

Just about any source will do. If anything, the Mixamp's limited to Dolby Headphone 5. Not that I'd expect a dramatic difference with the extra side channels; the important thing is that you can distinguish front and rear. CS:GO, huh? Joined Feb 3, Posts 17 Likes The sound stage of the AD is awesome, more impressively is the feeling of these headphones on your head for 8, 8, 12hr gaming sessions I have a big head fyi. They do NOT get hot and your head does not feel like it was in a vice when you take them off.

Very airy. Zero complaints with this combo. You will be picking up sounds other players can't. For the ones they can hear, you will be hearing them first. The sound quality is sharp. These are not bass head headphones, but they are enough for gaming IMO. Explosions still pop. Actually they might not been hot for your head and fit good on you, but another person it will be the opposite, I know it was for me.

The headphone made my head hot and i couldn't use the ADs that long because of it. As I felt like My head was in a spa room. Besides moving around when I made subtle movements made the headphones move off the top of my head. But like I said Results will be different based on the person head. As he will be getting thinking he will have the same results as you then realize that he doesn't and will not be happy with them. The best thing he can do is go some where that let him use it first so he knows how it feels on his head.

Because only he will know. You must log in or register to reply here. Users who are viewing this thread. Total: 1 members: 0, guests: 1.
